Rachita Dutta

Rachita Dutta completed her BFA from the University of Jammu and her MFA from Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan. Rachita is currently pursuing a PhD from the Central University of Himachal Pradesh. She works in the mediums of drawing and embroidery. Rachita has been a recipient of several residencies and awards, including APRE Art House Residency, Edition I, 2023; Textile Residency, Iceland, 2019; National Junior Fellowship, 2019-20; National Young Artist Scholarship, 2017. She had held several solo and group exhibitions including a Solo Show, Jammu, 2015; Student’s Kochi Biennale, 2014-15; World Within World Without, Bikaner House, New Delhi, 2022 and Pause II, Online Group Show, Nippon Art Gallery, Mumbai.

Her art practice expresses the nostalgic memories and present experiences that she has gained and represented visually. It is the intimate relation with her immediate surroundings. It is through the objects/belongings or similar experience that she tends to dwell an emphatic relation with some being. Rachita is not only interested in the physical, but also the emotional and physiological state of mind of a person or any other being. The visual images also act as a release of emotion for her. They are the honest manifestations of some of her life experiences and events that became intimated or attached with her directly and indirectly.

Rachita is currently based in Jammu, India.
